Welcome to the standing desk forum. This is a brand new place to discuss the ups and downs (pun intended) of standing while at work.
My name is Jason and I have modified my desk to stand while working 9 hours a day. I belive that it is better for my health, and better for my productivity.
This forum is brand new obviously, so post away and lets get it going!

Its great that you've started this forum, hope it takes off!
3 weeks ago I moved my clothes from my top 2 shelves in my wardrobe cupboard and placed my laptop and keyboard in there instead. I started it cause I have a hard time concentrating when I sit down. Sitting is too stationary for me and I get frustrated with being so still and end up going home or going for a bike ride instead of continuing my work.
I started standing to help with exam studies and I got through the exams brilliantly. I felt I didn't need to coerce myself into studying like I usually do, rather it was more of an enjoyable experience.
I'd love for this forum to become a hub of knowledge and ideas. Currently, there's a lot of news/blog articles but no conversation and no in depth discussion.
Things like:
1. Different postures to adopt while standing 2. Experiences with knee/back pain or improvements. 3. Experiences putting forward such a solution at your workplace (eg. open plan office)

Jason, why hasn't your forum taken off? I'd really like to see more on the topic. Just today I was reading about how the proper ergonomics while standing are different than while sitting so trying to do the whole 90 degree thing is okay but having your hands down is best. Check out NotSitting.com Homepage for more on that little gem. Jeff

Thanks for hosting. I am really passionate about the topic, because the standing desk life has changed me for the better. But it's not easy, and most people including me often end up back in the chair. It's like a diet that you try, and fail if you aren't committed to the lifestyle. I tried a wobbly stool and was okay for a minute, then realized I was just sitting on it for long periods, but supporting the posture with my elbows on my desk all the time. Not good at all. I just found a standing-desk chair (LeanRite). I really love this idea. I think this is my solution, but it's not out yet unfortunately. I'd be interested in what other people thought about it: www.ergoimpact.com.

RE:ergoimpact.com - That Leanrite sit-stand chair is awesome! Definitely asking my company to buy me one. My posture has been going to hell.

So weird to find this forum from 2017 mentioning a new product I own. It's August, 2018. I have a standing desk and I hadn't been using it at all. I started out standing a lot, but I couldn't concentrate. Basically I was on my elbows all day leaning on my desk which gave me neck and shoulder pains. I bought that standing desk chair called the Leanrite that was mentioned above and it rocks. I'm using it to perch on right now. It took a little while to get used to some of the positions, but now I'm a raving fan. My dad bought one too. He found it on Amazon. The actual website is www.ergoimpact.com, but they also sell on Amazon (https://amzn.to/2OpZr03). If you buy it- please respond on this forum. I would love to know if anyone read this. I used a discount code on the website that my friend sent me. Not sure if it still works tho. (EARLYRISER was 10% off).
